Lucinda Dukes Edinberg papers
Content Description
This collection contains documents and textiles related to the work of Lucinda Dukes Edinberg. In particular, the collection is linked to three projects that Edinberg was directly involved with. The first was the “Stitch in Time” exhibit, of which she was the chair, at the Timonium Fair Grounds to celebrate a documentation project by the Maryland Homemakers Council in 1990. The second was a project that she worked on with Barbara Kirkconnell, William Seale, and Poss Tarpley. This project concerned a white-on-white quilt that Edinberg was reproducing for the Best Bedroom of Montpelier Mansion in Laurel, Maryland. The third was a project that Kirkconnell consulted Edinberg about for the George Marshall House in Leesburg, Virginia. Kirkconnell reached out to Edinberg regarding dry-rotted drapes, which were a gift from Madame Chiang Kai-Shek, first lady of Taiwan.
The materials relating to these events includes correspondence between Edinberg and Kirkconnell, correspondence between Edinberg and John M. Kopper, a descendent of a quilt-maker, photographs, a fabric catalog, invoices for materials, a brochure for Montpelier Mansion, an unidentified string, and samples of textiles.

Biographical Note
Lucinda Dukes Edinberg has served as the curator of the Hammond-Harwood House in Annapolis, Maryland, since 2022. She is also a professor of art and architectural history at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, Maryland. She received her BFA from the University of Texas at Arlington and her MA from Notre Dame of Maryland University with a concentration in art history, philosophy and literature. She holds an Advanced Teaching Certificate for the state of Maryland. She has served as a guest curator, lecturer, and/or designer at institutions such as the Smithsonian, Syracuse University, Princeton University, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Arrangement
The collection is arranged into two series, with the series separated into two boxes. Series 1, Documents and unidentified string, is housed in Box 1, which contains papers, photographs, and a sample of string in folders. The folders are organized alphabetically. Series 2, Textiles, is housed in Box 2, which contains textile samples from projects Edinberg was involved with. Each sample includes a tag with the object number. They are arranged in a general order of size.
