Content Description

A collection of 35 design drawings for leather screens, many on George D. Thompson & Co. letterhead. Most have been colored, and feature designs in the renaissance revival, rococo revival, and Chinoiserie styles. Many include dimensions and prices.

Of note is one design that features a Black person as an umbrella bearer within a rococo revival scene.

Hammersley & Co. porcelain order books

Content Description

Two Hammersley & Co. porcelain order books, covering the dates of February 1910 through March 1920 and March 1920 through 1925. Each order contains the name of the purchaser, a partial design drawing of the design ordered, some of which are colored, and a breakdown of cost by element. Customers that are listed are primarily British, induding Harrods Department Store, J. Goode & Co., Whyte & Son Ltd. Dublin, J.A. Nisbet of Edinburgh, and Civil Service Supply.

Lewis family general store and farm daybook

Content Description Daybook for the years 1877-1942 with some gaps, primarily between 1895 and 1915, for a general store and farm in Dover, Delaware possibly owned by R. H. Lewis and later by R. E. Lewis. A frequent customer of the store is Dr. Edward Lewis, along with his wife and daughter. Transactions recorded for the store account include all manner of dry goods as well as cash; the farm account records transactions for supplies and equipment as well as rent, taxes, and similar.
