The records in this collection include a day book, correspondence, orders, invoices, bills, and receipts, both from Riggs & Brother to their clients and from suppliers to Riggs & Brother. The day book dates from 1889-1893. In it were recorded purchases, repair work performed, the names and addresses of customers, and charges. Receipt book contains signed receipts for taxes, rents, brick work, plumbing, painting, paper hanging, privy cleaning, gas, and water charges. Also includes records of payments of tuition for his daughter and son, repairs to a sofa, a kitchen range, an annuity to Cath Herman, etc. Many of the tax payments and much of the work was done on buildings being built or repaired for Geyer, not for his business or home, but rather buildings for rent or sale.
