This collection contains six letters and two envelopes from Rembrandt Peale (1778-1869) to his niece, Mary Jane Peale (1827-1902) that were written between the years of 1857-1859. The letters discuss a portrait Rembrandt is creating of Mary, in which he proposes times for her to sit for him, scheduling conflicts for their sessions, his reasoning for the price of the portrait, and his sending of the finished product to her.
