Content Description
Day book for the years 1837-1846, kept by a Dover, DE cabinet maker. Research suggests that the ledger may have been kept by Stephen Toppan, one of three cabinet makers listed in directories as working in Dover in 1838.
Jobs listed in the daybook include making and repairing various pieces of furniture, including chairs, tables, bureaus, cradles, bedframes, bookcases, mirror frames, and coffins. Charges listed also incude varnishing, as well as the sale of smaller items such as knobs and screws.
