Scott & Hutchinson records

Consists primarily of bills and receipts for various aspects of the wheelwright and blacksmith business. There are also a fair number of records documenting building construction and what seems to be a series of real estate investments. The last box contains two hand-drawn maps, some published lithographs (in poor condition), some wallpaper scraps, and a number of student notebooks kept by sons of John Scott: William, David, and Joseph.

The papers include bills, accounts, and receipts having to do with the business of wheelwrighting and blacksmithing, with rent and taxes, and with other business and personal concerns. Among the commodities purchased, one finds lumber, paints, varnishes, coal, bricks, hardware, wagon parts.
