Printed processes used include: woodblock printing, engraving, lithography, and photolithography. The majority of the material was produced during the 19th century in New England and the Middle Atlantic states. Scope and Contents Contains sketches, preliminary and working stencils for the decoration of furniture, probably by a Pennsylvania German furniture decorator near York, Pennsylvania. Designs include flowers, fruit, birds (including an eagle) and similar stylized motifs. Clearly shows steps from design conception through finished product as collection also includes finished full color samples done on paper with simulated wood grain background.
