Content Description The collection contains 280 leaves of well-detailed architectural and furniture drawings and paintings, as well as four photographs. Scope and Contents

Cards depict convertible furniture, chiefly objects that could be transformed into beds. Cards are unique to individual manufactures. Such items at the "Celebrated Windsor Folding Bed," Albee's National Upright Parlor Bed," Boyington's Automatic Folding Bed," "Ham's Convertible Chair and Wash-Bench," and desks and mantels that are actually beds are featured. One of the cards--from Paine's Furniture Store in Boston--shows a room setting with a youngster pulling down a bed from a corner.

Content Description The collection contains 21 sheets of furniture and exterior architectural drawings in black and white by designer, Walter John Hill Dudley. A majority of the drawings include a description of the object being designed, the client, the address it is intended for, and the dimensions. Some, but not all, of the drawings include Dudley's signature, the date, or a reference to Jos. P. McHugh & Co.
