Scope and Contents
Consists of floral patterns from four German printers for Berlin woolwork embroidery for borders, sprays, nosegays, and two patterns which would have been suited for pillows. The patterns are hand-painted with opaque watercolor on printed card stock. Underneath some of the colors may be seen printed symbols indicating the color needed. Printers represented are: Louis Glüer; Grünthals Verlag; Hertz & Wegener; and A. Todt.

Collection of Pennsylvania German painted furniture designs and stencils

Scope and Contents
Contains sketches, preliminary and working stencils for the decoration of furniture, probably by a Pennsylvania German furniture decorator near York, Pennsylvania. Designs include flowers, fruit, birds (including an eagle) and similar stylized motifs. Clearly shows steps from design conception through finished product as collection also includes finished full color samples done on paper with simulated wood grain background. Two of the finished pieces are signed J. F. W. Sleeder on the verso....
