Double-entry accounting ledger for the full year of 1836, with the earliest entries dated January 1 and the latest December 31. Manuscript entries in a neat, even hand, with amounts recorded in two columns labeled "$" and "cts"; amounts in the cents column are sometimes fractional. Content Description
This collection consists of a ledger and receipts that were kept by the owner of a cattle ranch in Nebraska. Based on the cattle brand embossed into the front cover of the ledger, they were possibly kept by either Edward Ormesher of Valentine, Nebraska or Ezra E. Tucker of Hyannis, Nebraska. There is also a very faint inscription on the front cover of the ledger above the cattle brand that reads "Metzger Bros." This may refer to the Metzger ranch in Merriman, Nebraska.The ledger...
