Scope and Contents

Twenty-nine signed receipts for a variety of goods, such as "fifteen Dollars in full for a Mattrass," and "Seven hundred twenty four Dollars 50/100 ... for 100 Kegs of Lard." Includes commodities shipped to Havana, Cuba. At the back of the book are some rough sketches of buildings, evidently done at a much later time as one appears to be a skyscraper.

Scope and Contents Consists of hundreds of handwritten receipts for money received by a wide variety of suppliers in New York in exchange for raw materials and processed goods for the running of Hull & Bowne's business. Typical entries are "Rec'd New York Augt. 6 1806 ... Ninty one 87/100 Dollars for Camphor"; "Rec'd New York 9 month 21-1807 ... Forty three dollars 50/100 in full for instruments for Dr Cogswell"; and "Received New York 23rd Nov. 1810 ... Sixty nine dollars ... in full for freight of goods...

John Jutau receipt book

Scope and Contents Contains signed receipts from people for whom Jutau auctioned merchandise. The receipts are dated 7 June to 21 October 1784. A wide variety of goods were auctioned, ranging from household and personal items, to produce, to the ever popular "sundries." This artificial and still open collection contains receipts for household products and personal goods. Material culture including house furnishings, clothing, pottery, textiles, food, etc. are included. Of the 150 or so items in the collection, over 60% date from the 19th century; the remainder originated from the 18th century.

Scope and Contents Receipt book contains signed receipts for taxes, rents, brick work, plumbing, painting, paper hanging, privy cleaning, gas, and water charges. Also includes records of payments of tuition for his daughter and son, repairs to a sofa, a kitchen range, an annuity to Cath Herman, etc. Many of the tax payments and much of the work was done on buildings being built or repaired for Geyer, not for his business or home, but rather buildings for rent or sale.
